More information about the mission and organisational status of BHCA.
Brighton and Hove Climate Alliance (BHCA) is a 'Company Limited by Guarantee' (without share capital). A 'CLG' is a long established structure used by a wide variety of not-for-profit organisations.

The legal aims and objectives, as enshrined in the Articles of Association (the governing document) are :
(1) To advance the education of the public living in Brighton and Hove and elsewhere, in the subject of Climate Change and how government (local, regional and national) can work together to build a more sustainable society in which our greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.
(2) To advance the education of the public in subjects relating to sustainable development and the protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of the environment and to promote study and research in such subjects provided that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large.
(3) To promote for the benefit of the public living in Brighton and Hove and the surrounding areas the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in particular but not exclusively by engaging in, and encouraging others to engage in, projects designed to mitigate climate change and its effects.
(4) To advance the education of the public living in Brighton and Hove and the surrounding areas in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment including in the subject of climate change and its mitigation.
Ammendments to the original articles were proposed by the Charities Commission as a condition of granting of charitable status, which was approved on 6th March 2024. The charity number is 1207326. To view the entry on the Charities Commission registrar, please click here.
The company / charity has an interim exectuive, made up of founding members. At some stage in the near-medium future, once additional members have been enrolled, elections for an operational executive will be held.
