About this process
The Climate and Community Action Working Group
Prior to their surprise and unilateral abolition in mid July 2024, there were a variety of different fora in which the Community engage with the Council on how to move the City towards Net Zero and beyond.
There included :
The main Climate and Community Action Working Group, which includes representative of leading local sustainability / climate and community engagement organisations such as BHCA, Climate:Change, Trust for Developing Communities and Community Works. Independent Councillor Mark Earthey, also a sustainable energy professional, also attends.
The Waste Reduction Working Group - a sub group establsihed to discuss one fo the climate / sustainability priorities by the Coucil, that of reducing waste.
Discussions are also underway to form a sub-working group of CCWG to discuss the Dercabonisation Pathways Study that the Council has commissioned.
BHCA is also proposing a sub-working group be established to focus on Transport - originally the focus of the Carbon Neutral 2030 programme and the Climate Assembly that followed.
